ENGAGE LEARN TRANSFORM
Written/Directed/Produced by Mary Barry and Claire Ropartz
The filming occurred at Middle Park Primary School (MPPS), to illustrate the enthusiastic methodology used at the school, based on Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts and Mathematics (STE(A)M). The film is a vehicle that illustrates students participating in creative and critical thinking, problem-solving and using communicators of ideas equipped with an entrepreneurial mindset and an appetite for ongoing learning whilst displaying grit (passion plus resolve). The inclusion of the 'A' (Arts) promotes divergent and convergent thinking needed for innovation, skill sets which will be important for the future of students. Including the Arts, has been an important facet in the thinking and methodology, as it shows the transformative approach used more broadly.
The aim of the project is to potentially create an exchange of ideas, potential partnerships between Industry and Education and to promote work that underpin the support pillars around STE(A)M. Another area that we are focussing on, is girls, young women and women as a whole in occupational areas that have low female participation, plus building partnerships with industry and education to create pathways for our future workforce.
Our focus is on renewable energy and the use of sustainable methods within education and industry. Embedded within the film, we have used the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's), created by the Elyx Foundation (based in Paris), a focus on renewable energy and the use of sustainable methods within education and industry. This is the beginning of an exchange of ideas, partnerships between Industry and Education and the promotion of work that underpins the support pillars around STE(A)M.
